The Riddles of the Bandits

Once upon a time, in a peaceful village, there lived a thoughtful woodcutter named Alaric. Alaric loved nature and often took his time to appreciate the beauty of the trees and the songs of the birds.

One day, while chopping wood deep in the forest, Alaric stumbled upon a hidden cave. Curious, he ventured inside and found piles of gold coins and sparkling jewels. But he wasn't alone—forty bandits guarded the treasure, and they communicated only in riddles!

The bandit chief, a tall figure with a twinkle in his eye, stepped forward. 'To take our treasure, you must outsmart us! Answer our riddles, or you'll leave empty-handed!' he declared with a grin.

Alaric took a deep breath. 'I accept your challenge!' he replied. The first bandit asked, 'What has keys but can't open locks?' After a moment, Alaric smiled and answered, 'A piano!' The bandits cheered, but the chief raised his hand, signaling for the next riddle.

The riddles kept coming, and Alaric answered many with cleverness. However, one riddle stumped him: 'I speak without a mouth and hear without ears. What am I?' Alaric scratched his head, feeling nervous. Suddenly, a little bird flew in, chirping a tune. Alaric realized, 'An echo!'

The chief was impressed. 'You are both clever and kind, Alaric. You listened to the bird, and that helped you solve the riddle! You may take some treasure, but remember, sharing is the true treasure.' Alaric grinned, knowing he had learned that cleverness and kindness together were unbeatable.
