The Sad City Below

High on a hill, there stood a beautiful statue of a prince. His body was made of gleaming gold, and his eyes sparkled like blue sapphires. The prince could see everything in the city below him, and what he saw made his heart ache.

Every day, he watched children go hungry, mothers cry, and buildings fall apart. 'I wish I could help them,' he sighed. But how could a statue help? That’s when a clever sparrow named Pip flew by.

Pip landed on the prince's shoulder and chirped excitedly, 'Do you see all the sad faces? You can help them! Just give away your jewels!' The prince thought for a moment. 'But I don’t know how to do that,' he replied.

Pip fluffed his feathers and said, 'Leave it to me! I’ll guide you. Let’s start with that little girl who has no shoes.' With a flick of his wing, Pip flew down to the girl, while the prince carefully removed one of his sparkling gems and sent it floating down.

Day after day, Pip and the prince worked together. They helped many people by giving away the prince's gold and gems. The prince felt lighter and happier each time he gave something away.

One evening, as the sun set, the prince looked at his empty pedestal, and Pip perched on his shoulder. 'You did it! You’ve made many happy!' said Pip. The prince smiled brightly, knowing that true generosity costs something real, like his beautiful treasures, but it filled his heart with joy.
