The Monkey King of Mount Joy
In the lush cedar forests of Mount Joy, a nimble golden monkey named Max vaulted across the treetops, leaping thirty feet between high branches with effortless speed. Perched on the highest lookout rock, he puffed his chest and beat his hands against the stone, calling proudly to the valley below.
While Max was busy performing acrobatic somersaults to show off his speed for the squirrels, a sudden mountain gust tore through the high canopy, knocking a young songbird out of its nest into the thorny briars below the cliff.
Hearing the tiny chirp of distress from the brambles, Max dropped his playful swagger instantly. He scrambled down the steep cliffside, ignoring the sharp thorns that tugged at his golden fur as he searched the thick undergrowth.
Gently cradling the trembling chick in both paws, Max splinted its bruised wing with a soft cedar strip and bound it with green moss, making sure the little bird could rest comfortably and safely.
Max climbed carefully back up the tall cedar trunk and nestled the chick safely into its sheltered nest beneath the broad pine boughs, shielding it from the chilly mountain wind.
The forest animals gathered quietly along the branch, grooming his scuffed golden shoulders as Max stood watchful guard over the high nest until the mountain storm passed, using his strength to protect the flock.
